WEEK 03
During the third week, we discussed topics such as instructional software, drill and practice, tutorial, simulations, instructional games, problem-solving and integrated learning systems. I want to tell you what I learned last week, and what topics I agree with or disagree with, on this blog.
- Instructional Software:
- One of the things we learned and focused on a lot in this course is that Papert has designed a program called Logo. This topic, which we talked about many times in class and stubbornly no one answered our teacher, stuck in my mind a lot. At the same time, the name logo also inspired the "logo", a toy that children play with and which also greatly improves their cognitive intelligence.
- Drill and Practice:
In fact, the basis of this title is that children learn by practicing. I think this is one of the most effective methods of learning, because sometimes just because teachers try to teach something doesn't mean that the student can understand that topic. I think it is more important for students to do and develop something for themselves, so this teaching technique is actually one of the most important techniques to help students learn something.
- If we have to give an example of this, memory cards are one of the most important activities that help me teach.
- Simulations:
Simulation is a technology that tries to provide a real-life experience to show how some systems work. If you have heard, Cappadocia is simulating a balloon tour with VR glasses for 35 TL because we Turks can't afford it. It can help us to imagine and embody in our minds through simulations what is impossible for us to do in reality. in the same way, if we use such simulations in education, it can help students to develop their imagination, to make some things easier in their minds.
- Instructional Game:
Instructional games allow students to focus and learn better by increasing motivation.
As an example "scratch" website can be given.
- In general, in this course, we have seen different applications of how we can use teaching technologies more effectively. We have tried to understand how education has changed over time, in what ways education was given to students in the past, how it is given now and what kind of education will be given in the future.
