WEEK 05

COURSERA MODULE 3

This week we learned about designing technology and the important topic for me "is transactional distance theory" I think this topic is important because our teacher maybe asks about this theory in the midterm.

Designing technology- Enriched and Enabled Learning Environments (TEEL)

  • In this module, we have seen different educational environments developed with technology. These include e-learning developed for people with disabilities, training designed just to learn something online, and many other technologies.

  • Our second lesson explained, the theory of motivation, coalition, and performance. As I mentioned above, these are the technologies that will provide motivation for us in e-learning. The video also talks about 6 topics that this lesson aims to teach us. (learning, design, and technology)

  • He is talking about design, if we are going to do a job, we need to plan it first and design how it will look. This is equally true in education. If you are preparing a program, you must first plan it and design which technologies you will use and how you will use them.

  • The second thing he talks about is the integration of technology into education. A large investment needs to be made in this regard, because not everyone may have access to technology or the Internet, and the use of technology in education can reduce the motivation of the learner. Therefore, if they want technology to be used in education, it is necessary to make sure that everyone has access to this technology, that is, there is equal opportunity in education.

  •  They found that the motivation of adult learners in online learning settings could be explained by many factors such as their intrinsic motivation or internal motivation. Their short-term or long-term extrinsic motivation or external motivation. And their willingness to accept, to embrace new technologies.

He mentioned E3 Design Principles. These are effectiveness, efficiency, and engagement. These are three common factors for evaluating the overall value of e-learning systems, programs, learning technology applications, and technology-enabled learning environments.

  • The second design tool we're going to discuss is the motivation, volition, and performance design theory for effective, efficient, and engaging e-learning.

  • The main thing in the province of motivation is that a topic attracts the student's curiosity.

  • Learners also should believe that they can master the new knowledge, skills, and abilities presented in the environment.

  • Learners need to feel satisfied at the conclusion of the learning experience.

Module 3.2: Transactional Distance Theory

"Transactional Distance" (TD) is an abstract theory formulated to understand the psychology underlying distance education.

Transactional Distance, in the field of distance education, rather than geographical distance, refers to the psychological distance and gap between the teacher and the student who are located in different or the same places (Stein, Wanstreet et Dec. 2005).

Module 3.3: Assistive Technology and Universal Design

Within the scope of universal design, all designs must be user-oriented. This approach, also called design for all, aims to create spaces that will meet the spatial, social, and individual needs of all user groups, including people with disabilities and mobility restrictions.

The important point here is that the characteristics of the designed space or product look normal and feel that way. Everything achieved with the universal design approach allows all users to benefit, and as a result, people with disabilities, the elderly, children, and other people who are different from the general are not labeled or stigmatized. Everyone benefits equally from all products and spaces without being marginalized, excluded, or discriminated against
are provided.

Module 3.4: Senior Citizens and Learning Technologies

Over the age of 65, he talks about how people should use educational technology, and how and what goals those who design educational technologies should design for the elderly.
